Job description:

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate R&D scientist to join our growing lab team. Become part of our pioneering team and help us deliver our cutting edge solutions and meet the company’s engineering objectives. This is a hands-on role pursuing R&D of new applications and methodologies for ACT.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Manager, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for the testing of incoming samples from prospective and established company clients and reporting the results of this testing to the Technical Manager and the Technical Director as appropriate.

  • Characterising novel materials for their suitability for the ACT process by assessing their properties before and after treatment.

  • Research and development of new products and technological innovations to increase the range of services provided by the business.

  • Production of small batches of carbonated products for testing with focus on aggregate and concrete testing.

  • Providing technical support for commercial ACT operations within the UK and abroad.

  • Working with staff and students from the University of Greenwich to support the research and development aims of the company.

Required and preferred skills

  • PhD or MSc level qualification in chemistry, environmental sciences, or another related scientific discipline.

  • Knowledge of CoSHH and health and safety procedures in a laboratory

  • Practical laboratory experience particularly in inorganic chemistry and/or concrete testing

  • Experience with cement chemistry, waste management or carbonation chemistry.

  • Use of XRF, XRD, ICP

  • Good communicator, both written and verbal.

  • A proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Willingness to be innovative, work under their own initiative, with strong organisational skills, being able to plan, prioritise and organise various tasks at the same time.

  • Must have a flexible approach to work and be contactable out of hours.

  • Willingness to travel around UK and abroad (mainly in Europe)
