Job description:
We are looking for a dynamic and passionate R&D scientist to join our growing lab team. Become part of our pioneering team and help us deliver our cutting edge solutions and meet the company’s engineering objectives. This is a hands-on role pursuing R&D of new applications and methodologies for ACT.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Technical Manager, your key responsibilities will be:
Responsible for the testing of incoming samples from prospective and established company clients and reporting the results of this testing to the Technical Manager and the Technical Director as appropriate.
Characterising novel materials for their suitability for the ACT process by assessing their properties before and after treatment.
Research and development of new products and technological innovations to increase the range of services provided by the business.
Production of small batches of carbonated products for testing with focus on aggregate and concrete testing.
Providing technical support for commercial ACT operations within the UK and abroad.
Working with staff and students from the University of Greenwich to support the research and development aims of the company.
Required and preferred skills
PhD or MSc level qualification in chemistry, environmental sciences, or another related scientific discipline.
Knowledge of CoSHH and health and safety procedures in a laboratory
Practical laboratory experience particularly in inorganic chemistry and/or concrete testing
Experience with cement chemistry, waste management or carbonation chemistry.
Use of XRF, XRD, ICP
Good communicator, both written and verbal.
A proficiency with Microsoft Office
Willingness to be innovative, work under their own initiative, with strong organisational skills, being able to plan, prioritise and organise various tasks at the same time.
Must have a flexible approach to work and be contactable out of hours.
Willingness to travel around UK and abroad (mainly in Europe)
